Yes, your car's seat belt chime should sound if you leave your
headlight or parking light on and open the driver's door.  If that
doesn't work, check if the warning chime relay had been removed,
and also check the doot jamb switch for proper contact.  On my '84
5KT, the chime is kind of faint sounding due to all the sound proofing
under the dash.
