After doing a few of the newer style (flush) Audi and VW door handles, I
now LIKE the ole design.  The other day is was a few below zero, and
finger pull on the handle was snapped clean off drivers door.  After a
decade and a half of owning an Audi or few, I have a "box o doorhandles".
 Short story made even shorter, took about 5 minutes to change the
doorhandle, including a re-tumblering (save those ole tumbers, a 35mm
film can keeps them handy) and fixing the broken "hat" on the teflon
(plastic?) rod link ends (a small E-Clip pushed into the slot of the
"hat" works great.)  Took the oportunity to do what I should have done
before it broke....lubed all the latches, handles and hinges, and sprayed
the gasket down with Silicone spray.
