Hello fellow Audifans.

Bentley says rotate the camshaft so the lobes point upwards and then the
lifter can be removed.  Somehow, I have doubts as there seems to be very
little space under the cam.  Has anyone replaced the lifters without
removing the camshaft?  If so, can you please offer some guidance?
The engine is a 5-cyl NG.
