Any concerns with a '98-'99 A6q?

Yes, there are concerns:

The cam seal on the '98s & '99s have been problematic, with repairs running
around $1500.

There is a very recent recall on the front bumper (can be ripped off if you
drove over something and then tried to back up off of it, like a concrete
parking block), window guide clips, door trim, and the center console ashtray.

The information display in the middle of the gauges has been known to fade. The
replacment is an $800 bill.

The heated steering wheels generally stop heating. The repair is a new steering
wheel, which I *think* runs about $700. The other option is to just live
without it, and that's what I do right now.

AFAIK, the head gasket issue was only a '92 - '93 problem with the 12v V6 (felt
that one personally to the tune of $1600).

Some folks believe that you should only buy a '98 or '99 A6 along with an
extended warranty. I decided to gamble and bought without a warranty.
