frankenstien's favorite I-5

I thought the NF head did not have the injectors in the manifold, but
in the head. NG I know has injectors in the IM, not the head.

Sean's question is to know if he should obtain an NF head instead of re-
working a KX head. Reason, NF has larger valves, if I recall
correctly. Yes/No?

Based on this assumption, can he use the manifolds from either his '84
coupe engine, or off of one of the 4kq's I have stripped? Or should he
be using the complete KX intake.

Also, we are trying to determing if he'll do just fine with the CIS-E
setup from a 4kq, without sacrificing too much do to lack of knock
sensor. This assumes he'll use the appropriate gas based on how he
sets his timing.

Were shooting for about 150 HP and assum to install a 270ish cam. The
car will be using its power more for slalom than drag style racing, and
really a daily driver. We have turbos laying around, but seems to be
overkill and too much work for this type of conversion - wan't to keep
that AC!

Just trying to use what we have on hand vs. building up essentially
what I have sitting in the trailer - a completely worked up NG with CIS-
E3, ported/polished, Elgin 270 Cam, etc.

My thinking is hell do allright with a NF block and NF head-ported, but
using CIS-E and 4kq manifolds Intake and Exhaust manifolds, with better
exhaust. If not much gain would be had on NF head - then just as soon
use a KX head.

Pros, cons, etc. ??? TIA

Ben - helping Sean build up a nice Frankencoupe.

AFAIK it will all bolt up......... but if you use an ng/nf head you
have to put the injectors into the im, there are no holes in the
head!!! So you either need to use the nf/ng manifold, or modify your
other!!!

just another quick question as Ben Swann and I hash out what mess we can
assmeble into a new motor for my '84 CGT. I am currently looking at an
NF bottom end and we were think about a KX top end so that I could use
the familiar KX IM/TB, quattro exhaust manifold, CIS-E etc. The
subject came up of acquiring a NF head due to the larger valves. The
question then become will a KX IM/TB bolt to an NF head and if so is
this acceptable or would I be better off with switching totally to the
NF set-up. Oh and will the KX quattro exhaust manifold still work on
the NF head?? Thanks again for your help.
