Well, I've finally determined that the fairly sudden fluid leaking off
of my transmission case is as a result of a leaking clutch slave.
Questions:
1) Is it strongly recommended to replace the MC with the slave?
I assume the lines should be done in either case.
2) How difficult is this as a home repair without a lift?
3) How much time for a moderately capable shade tree mechanic to
do? Any special tools? It seems according to the
Bentley, that
it is a bolt that fixes it to the gearbox, rather than
the rather difficult
to remove roll pin on type 85's.
4) How does one get access to the stupid thing? Under the car, or
through
the gearbox tunnel after taking out the console, etc.?
5) What is a fair price in terms of hours for a professional tech
to do this?
6) Any recommendations for a "pro" in the lower Hudson Valley, NY
for this
job?
TIA,
LL - NY
