The GM motors; 4.3 and V8 s are fine if you don't mind changing the leaking
intake manifold gaskets all the time and the oil cooler lines. Both prone
to failure. Great designs give Mr Goodwrench job security.

Having previously owned two Chevy S-10's with the 4.3 engine, I would
recommend that you only replace the oil filter with a OE filter. I had
problems every time I started both of these trucks if they had a cheapo
orange filter on them. My first oil change started the problem at 900 miles
and it continued until after the warranty expired. The dealer could never
replicate the problem. It turned me off to Chevrolet so the next vehicle
purchased was a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero - BIG mistake - man do I miss the
Chevy rattle! Regardless - I am now enjoying touring around in an OLD Audi
with ALOT of miles on it - and doing so while saving money and enjoying the
car. Go figure.
This weekend I drove my 'no payment' low insurance cost Audi through four
states and logged over 1000 miles with only short rests. The longest the
car sat the whole weekend was the 9 hours we were in the hotel. Sorry to
get off subject but I am duly impressed that this car just keeps going.
Last night it made the trip to Evansville, IN and home after making the two
day adventure to Nashville. Kenny Chesney rocked Roberts Stadium last night
and my ears are STILL RINGING!
Great weekend y'all
Ben
