emergency brake cables

I am trying to get the cables replaced on my '87 5KT and the cables that
arrived this morning are about 2 feet too long.
My parts guy double checked the numbers and they were right according to
the listing.  He called his supplier and had the guy measure the cables
that were there and they have to send me cables for a regular 5000, not
the turbo.
Anyone else have this trouble? Or is my car just an orphan?
