4kq- 'nnormal' water temp gage reading?

My 87 4kq sits like this all the time....I guess it is normal, never
over heated, and the fan cycles normally.  The previous owner told me
the same, it did it to him all the time....He stated" You will get a
kick out of this, in the winter, you will freeze your ass off, and in
the summer, you will think the car is overheating, but it is not"
