Power steering high pressure hose rebuild

Hose problems... for sure,

Ah, yes... The hydraulic pump groan. My first aftermarket hose installation
was when I first heard the groan. Experts told me it was the pump. Right,
after trying 3 differnt pumps, it still groaned. The experts then said that
after market hoses had too much resistance to the flow of fluid, and hence
they groaned. Next, rebuild the hose, and insure that fluid flow is
unimpeaded. Right, hose was beautifully rebuilt, 3000 psi hose that was 50%
increased in ID,plus even had the bango bolts and fitting openings enlarged.
Yeah, this is now a super hose. Just cost me $30.00, thank goodness.
Great, yeph, still the pump groans. OK, you guessed it, the experts now say
that the aftermarket hoses do not have enough resistance to fluid flow,
therefore they groan and moan. Hey, that indeed, Audi factory hoses have a
precision restrictor, and that this is critical to preventing pump groans.
Well Blau, in WI, has a factory hose, they say this will work. Just a
minute, this hose has a funny twist to the line just before the banjo fitting
that goes to the rack. Ok... yes turns out that Audi made a design
change,(without a part # change),what for? Hell, no one knows. But
everyone agrees that this one will not groan... Well, am I a believer,
maybe...but I have not put it on yet.. Why you say? Ok yeph, this is a real
bitch to install. I spent two hours trying to install this thing. Yes the
other hose now has to be removed from the rack, as the high pressure hose
needs to fit under the lead in from the other hose,or maybe something like
that. Ok... I did not install my modified new factory hose. Hey, I am just
worn out.

My beautifully once silent, Audi 200 Quattro Avant... continues to make
sounds like those of a darn dump truck hydraulic system.

Best of luck with the groan.
