Bob:
FWIW, Hagerty collector car insurance charges one liability charge per poli=
cy, not per car, in keeping with your logic. This is true in all states. =
However, depending on what type of cars you have you may not qualify as "=
sport", "exotic", "antique" or "collector". They do not insure "daily dri=
vers".

Hope this helps,

Alex

I suppose it's one of those things that is dependant on the individual state
insurance laws. I have the same situation, 1 driver and 3 registered cars.
My logic is that I can only get into one accident at the time, no matter who
hard I try, and that anybody else that I should loan a car to would be
covered by their own insurance. Therefore I shouldn't have to pay 3 times
the liability coverage. But my insurance company doesn't see it that way
and requires full liability coverage on each of the 3 cars to cover for
anybody else driving the car. Their statement is that the insurance follows
the car, not the driver. At least that is the case for CT. I would agree
for the comprehensive portion but not the liability. But I suppose the
argument is that I can't ensure that whoever borrows my car is insured. So,
other than the multiple car discounts, the only other thing I was able to do
is get a reduction based on limited mileage. One car is my primary car and
on the other two I am limited to 7500 miles a year. I forget what the
discount was, however. The other thing I do is suspend coverage on one of
the cars that I garage during the winter. The comprehensive is still active
should the car get stolen, catch fire, etc., but the liability portion is
suspended.
