There is an issue that occurs to me that will alter the simpler versions
of these statistics, and that is the "differing vehicles" factor.  Even
when one has a couple of the same basic car, they can handle, drive, and
brake differently.

I notice when I switch betweent he type 85 coupe and the type 89 90Q
(and the decrepit '73 F250) that various driving habits don't work, even
simple stuff, like the signal stalk keeps moving around.

This could actually *raise* your personal accident rate if you run
several vehicles.

Remember back in the days of the UA fiasco - I recall a statistic that
the most common occurences were with fairly new vehicles - and secondary
drivers - ie, very little vehicle familiarity.  If my coupe wasn't so
customised to "fit me" exactly, each spring when I pull it outta the mud
to drive it I'd probably have similar problems, and crash into things,
drive it into deep water, etc. etc....
