I think the 5 bangers are definitely more reliable than the V6, but without
turbo they are almost as slow as a camry.... personal experience..

Subject: 5-cyl, 20V vs 6-cyl in an Audi 90

Folks,

I'm in the mood for spending money on a new (used) car. I've decided that I
want a 90 Quattro from the early 90'ies.

Which one would recommend the one with the 5-cyl, 20V DOHC engine (1990-92)
or the one with the 6-cyl engine (1993-?)?

Has the 5-cyl, 20V been discontinued? The 6-cyl in the 90, is that the same
power plant as used in the A4? Are the 6-cyl engines as reliable as the
5-cyl? Will they last as long? I believe the rear oil seal on the V6 is
known to leak a bit. Is this an issue I should be concerned about?

What are the main bugs on these cars? What should I look for?

Tom
