removal of back bumper

Guys,
I have rust around the mounting studs for the chrome trim on top of the
rear bumper cover, and I need to remove it to get the chrome off and do
the repair.
My question is that my manual (not Bentley) states to remove the 4
retaining bolts inside the luggage compartment, but I cant seem to find
anything.  Do I need to remove the interior of the trunk to find them,
or is there another way?
