Gary......in my years of experience doing alignments on both VW and Toyota
(since the 60's), assuming the ball joints and related steering pieces and
suspension parts are ok, I have not had a shudder or vibration in the
steering wheel caused by anything other than tires and/or wheels.  A bad
alignment itself should not cause this problem.  A bad alignment, causing
tires to wear...that tire wear will cause those problems but not the
alignment itself
