I blew an oil line on my '89 200. Twice.

The first time I was in my apartment parking lot. I had
the oil cooler replaced (couldn't get the lines off it
without ruining it) with a used one with lines attached.
False economy.

The second time the (used) oil line blew off was
about 6 months later. I was a mile from home.
I said, "F* it." and drove it the mile home. The
engine was running hot and was making noise,
but it made it home. Gotta love synthetic oil. :-)
I replaced the bad lines/cooler with a generic
cooler and lines from AutoZone(?). I haven't
had a problem with it since. The car will turn
230K miles tomorrow. So maybe I took 100K
miles off a 500K engine life.

I don't know what you'd have to do to kill the
engine.
