type 85 breakaway mirror tightening?

I have had success tightening these before.
After removing the glass you will see 4 melted "plastic rivets". If you grind them off the mirror will come apart to the point that you can see the springs and the aluminum frame they connect to. These "rivets" are hollow posts that allow you to use a small sheetmetal screw to reassemble. This aluminum frame usually deforms and muct be straightened in a vise or such. I found after doing 3 of these that it is easier to do on the car, as this holds the mirror so you can use both hands to wrestle with the springs and misc argumentative parts.
