Hi Ed,

I for one don't see where that lister is coming from, I think they simply missed the point of your post.  Posts like yours lose their charm if you have to explain it.

I thought your post, for what it was, was a thought-provoking and humorous commentary about how durable these cars are and how we as a group have developed excessively high expectations from our old German cars.

I don't think your post reflected a bad attitude (quite the opposite, the message was positive), a stupid joke (nothing stupid about an observation that puts peoples perspectives _more_ inline with reality.  well, most peoples perspectives anyway), or a nonsense commment (maybe to someone who didn't "get it" it wouldn't make sense, but it made perfect sense to me).

Maybe some people need to see a smiley face so they know they are supposed to actually think a little bit about what they are reading.  Then there are those who wouldn't get it under any circumstances.

So, I think no apology is necessary.  Between the lines, it was quite on-topic.
