OK, this is a car worth $5k or so - maybe more if it is a cream puff.
No one gives away $3500 to do anyone a favor. So, that means something
is broken. It may very well be an "accessory." IE, it runs and drives,
but maybe the AC and ABS don't work. And some of the dash switches (the
push button ones - they are the only electrics that seem to fail on the
type 89). Maybe it runs funny after it's warmed up for a while.

Whatever you do, bring it to a competent mechanic you trust and pay them
to go over it carefully, in addition to a rigorous test drive (consumers
reports used to describe a test drive regimen that was perfect...).

Add whatever is busted to the purcase price and see if it still seems
like a good deal (especially if some of it doens't matter to you). If
it is, buy it. They are really nice cars.

That car doesn't need them. It already comes with a nice, teutonically
understated rear wing, rear disc brakes, and probably some wood trim on
the dash. All you need is driving gloves, and you can get them anywhere.
