Hi all -
Sorry if these questions have been discussed recently; I haven't been
able to follow the digest for a few months now.
I'm getting my '88 80Q ready for the track again after 2 years off due to
surgery (me, not the car!). I have some questions about this:
1. Those of you who run 15" wheels, what competition tires (track, not
autocross) are you using these days? My old Yoko Advan A032R are
corded. Tire Rack shows a newer (H or S) compound A032R, but in my size I
can only find a V-rated and this puzzled me. If the tire is treaded, would
you recommend shaving to extend life? I did not shave my Advans, and they
scallopped pretty badly. Oh, I'm looking for soemthing that is preferably
at least MARGINALLY DOT street legal.
2. Does anyone have a recommendation for a coilover set/spring rating for
an '88 80Q?
3. Someone locally mentioned there is a higher-lift cam for my car that
will improve performance marginally. I thought he said 72 mm, but I could
have heard wrong. Has anyone else tried this/know the manufacturer?
4. Same person as (3) mentioned I could use ATF to clean my engine to
remove all the gunk before replacing with clean oil. Has anyone used this
trick to clean their engine?
Sorry for the bandwidth, but I do appreciate any and all advice you
can give! Take care -
