Interchanging oil filters on A4 from 5cyl

Hi all,

    I picked up two Mann oil filters yesterday for my two Audi cars; 1990 2=
00tq, and 1999.5 A4 1.8 tq Avant. The 200tq takes the same filter most of t=
he 5cyl. cars take, and they gave me a cross ref. filter for a 1.8 t V W, w=
hich would be the same for the 1.8 Audi. Upon looking at the filters closel=
y, they both look identical. I know they might be different inside, but I w=
ould think they would be about the same.

    Question is. Has anyone researched this? Not that I'm cheap, more like =
thrifty, but the 5cyl. filter is about 1/2 the price of an A4 1.8 filter. I=
 would think the 200tq filter would handle all requirements for the 1.8t. T=
he guys at Blau. told me I could use the 5cyl. filter on my 1993 90s V6 wit=
h no problems, and I did for 5 yrs. and 134,000 mi with no problems.
