OEM timing belt made in Japan?!

  Listers,

  I did a timing belt and the usual other stuff to my
90 200tqa,
 and while basking in the glory of not messing
anything up (bent valves) I was looking at the old
timing belt and it is an Audi/VW OEM belt but it saies
made in Japan whats up with that? Never seen a OEM
made in japan timing belt for a German car before.
 Just thought that was interesting ,
I allso last weekend pulled a Made in our favorite
place Czech fool pump out of the same 90 200tqa but I
replaced it with a new made in Germany Pierburg fuel
pump from the same guy's in Greenfield for the same
price as the 5kq one I've had for the past 8 or so
months with no problem, no noise as quiet as you would
want it to be.
 Now all I need to do is are the injectors.
