Hi Reginald,

This can be done. You need to change to a 1157 dual contact bulb. First,
remove the original single contact socket and chisel out the material
surrounding the center contact with a small screwdriver. Then obtain a
dual bulb base socket from the electrical section of your local auto parts
store. The bulb base socket will have short red and black wires about 4
inches long. To fit the new socket into the old holder, you'll need to
increase the diameter of the original socket. I found that the mini
sanding drum used with Dremel tools are just the right diameter for the new
socket. The original side contact sits in a recess, so it won't be
affected by the sanding. Now just press the new socket into the old
socket. The original side contact will touch the metal shell of the new
socket and provide the return ground for the new dual contact base. All
that remains is to connect the 2 leads to the parking and turn signal circuits.

BTW, its much easier for the T44 NA cars to turn the corner lights into
turn signal/running lights. All you need are the turn signal bulb sockets
from a '84 5000. The sockets have the correct plastic keying pattern to
fit directly into the corner lights. Just wire them in and you're good to go.
