T-belt?

if the t-belt is busted the rotor in the distributor won't turn while
you crank.  Pull the cap and take a look see.  Pull the fuel pump relay
to avoid dumping fuel while doing this.

Although a broken t-belt should make it crank faster, and it should
still be smooth, I would think.
