Replacing the sunroof motor "seal" in a '93 100

Hello all,
Last winter during a fairly warm day (rare in northern Vt.), my S. O.
decided to open the sunroof in her '93 100. Needless to say, after the
weather cooled down (took about 5 minutes lol) the sunroof would not close.
No problem says I, we'll just pull this little red "seal" thingy in the
sunroof motor, insert the cranking tool, and manually crank the sunroof
closed.

Well now that the weather is nice we would like to be able to open/close the
sunroof again, especially now that we are getting heavy rains, and I cant
get the sunroof to seal 100% with the manual crank. Very finicky.

The electric sunroof motor will not operate without the "seal" in the
correct position, and I cannot get it in right. The owners manual says the
seal must be replaced by the dealer, and my A-6 / 100 Bentley that is on
CD-ROM stubbornly refuses to load on my computer, so I don't even know if
the correct procedure is in the manual. Does anyone know the correct
procedure for replacing / orientating this seal?

Thanks in advance,
Tom Belrose
