CGT back together running terrible need help

Sounds like it set way too rich (or making itself that way). That would
explain the reek if there is no leak, and the sputter and die routine.
Try turning the 3 mm adjuster thing in the fuel distributor a couple
three whole turns (that is a *lot* for that adjustment) CCW to lean out
the static mixture. keep track so you can put it back if it does no good.
Could also be the warm up regulator, or the fuel distributor itself.
If you really manage to nail down a bad CIS part, I still have a few in
the attic.
