Bad puppy

I was bopping down a NC backroad, going about 60 mph, when
I heard a loud BEEP-BEEP-BEEP. I checked the warning light
and saw a big oil can. A glance at the oil pressure gauge
confirmed it -- no oil pressure. I shut off the engine and
pulled over to the side of the road.

After counting to 10 to calm myself (and to keep from rolling
the car into the ditch and walking away from it), I got out
and looked under the engine. Sure enough, the bottom of the
engine and everything behind the radiator was covered in oil.
I saw the free end of an oil cooler hose. It had come loose
from the nipple by the oil filter. I slid it back on (coated
in oil, it went on easily), tightened the clamp, dug out my
one quart of oil from the trunk, dumped it in, started the
car, and got 2 bar of oil pressure. Thank you, Mobil 1.

The first time this happened I had it towed and fixed. The
second time it happened, I drove it without oil the mile to
my home and replaced the Audi oil cooler and lines with an
Autozone off-the-shelf cooler and lines. Now the third time
it happened, I just repaired it on the spot. I'm getting
better at this.

I gingerly made my way home. Half way there, I heard another
loud BEEP! Now what? I immediately checked the oil pressure
gauge. It was still at 2 bar. I checked the warning light
and saw a gas pump. Doh! Low on fuel. No problemo. Just
another day of Audi ownership.
