Patient is my 1984 5KS, the hydraulic system has been ALMOST leak free
for two years now....except of course for the Brake Servo, which was
dripping at first, and now it's hemorrhaging about a quart of hydraulic
fluid every 2 weeks or so. The fluid cost is no big deal since I'm
running Mobil DTE13M in the system, BUT it would be nice to have a dry
hydraulic system again and not have to worry about premature wear on the
suspension bushing the fluid's dripping on. The leak has no effect at
all on the operation of the booster, brakes are working just fine.
Has anyone found a rebuild kit for the booster? A new one is not an
option, as they're priced around $450, and this is an '84 5KS. I pretty
much double the resale value of the car every time I fill the tank ;-)
I suspect even boneyard prices for a used part aren't worth it in this
case.
If there isn't a kit, does anyone have any BTDT on repairing a leaking
unit with improvised seals?
