Don't give up just yet... my seat was not completely broken like yours, but there was very little
holding it together.
You've done the hard work by removing the covers... if you have access to an oxy acetylene kit then
you should be able to fix it up quite nicely...

I had dad do mine for me, and I dare say it's as strong now as it's ever been, required welding in
about 3 or 4 places and then some hefty straightening to get it back to the right shape...

Mig may work fine too, but given the relatively thin section, (and the fact that I don;t have a mig
at home) I went with the gas...

Unless there's material actually missing, or badly deformed you may not even need bracing...
