I was bored today and looked through the first few years of qlist archives.
Take a look, it's interesting reading. Loads of the original listers still crop
up here.
The first entry in the archives includes Tom Haapanen, Glen Powell and Ti Kan,
names which, even from my following of this list, are more than familiar!!
We're all human here and all start from somewhere,
"I have read the old postings about the computer mods/wastegate spring
for the Audi turbos and I was wondering if the Euro wastegate spring for
the 1986 5000CS Turbos can be purchased seperately without getting the
computer mods done. "
was one of Scott Mockry's first posts from Feb 1993.
and I'm sure he won't mind...
"The AA patrolman who ***helped*** me commented (disparagingly) on the gauge of
the wire."
my emphasis;) and,
"I've seen lots of comments on the weaknesses of early 1980s Audi electrics here
in the last two days - I will pay more attention in future.
I also keep seeing references to "Bentley"? Whassat?"
guess who that was from c Nov 1994?? made me chuckle, not his first post
though, I think that began...
"Boy, am I glad to see you people."
amazing what the qlist and it's members have achieved over the years
The one thing that is fairly common to the people on this list is a "give it a
go" mentality and an inquiring mind. That's all it takes, given six years of
that it's not surprising that one can garner a huge amount of information about
these cars. Four years ago I'd only ever worked on Lego cars now I feel ok
about pulling struts, swapping cylinder heads and am even contemplating buying
into the world that is quattro turbo ownership...
Hope this doesn't turn into a huge thread, sorry in advance to 216.46.70.136
Cherio,
Graham.
