2.3 Compression?

Hey everyone,
I have a question re: the compression in the 2.3 vs the 2.2 engine. My 2.2 has 8.5:1, the 2.3 has 10:1. Is the additional compression the 2.3 has because of a smaller combusiton chamber in the head or different shaped pistons? What I'm saying, will the 2.3 head on the 2.2 block give 10:1 or will the 2.3 block with a 2.2 head give 10:1.
