"If radio is not properly coded after three tries, disconnect battery =
and/or remove and replace radio fuse in order to obtain three more tries =
at the code. If radio is not coded after six tries, radio will =
electronically lock up and must be replaced."

I'm thinking that leaving it on for 24 hours only works on a different =
kind of radio. I am going to try that anyway since it won't hurt to =
try.

Thanx for the suggestion, I'll let you know if it works.

I'm going thru the same exact thing right now. Would recommend =
checking the blade fuse on the back side; next to the plugs. 5 or 7.5 =
amp; if it is bad the radio display will keep saying safe and not allow =
any more codes to be entered.
Also try leaving the radio on with power for 24 hours and then try =
entering a code. =20
  Mine is still showing SAFe
I will keep you updated if I hear anything else. =20
  =20
One bit of info off the web; think it was It's site said that the =
radio could permanently lock up.
My manual with the radio and the local dealer say they can not =
permanently lock up. If you enter too many wrong codes it just needs =
the radio to be powered up of a longer and longer period of time before =
entering a new code.
  =20
  Good luck

    Subject: Radio Code Blues

    =20
I have an Audi Wiesbaden Radio. After disconnecting the battery it =
asked me for a code. I entered it just like the instructions the =
previous owner wrote for me, but it didn't work. I found out later that =
his instructions were for a different model radio than what was =
currently in my car. So now my radio only says "SAFe" and it wont let =
me even try any more codes. In the manual that I just now acquired for =
it, it says that if too many incorrect codes are entered the radio will =
need to be replaced. Which brings me to my question. Does it REALLY =
need to be replaced? The dealer said I could trade it for a replacement =
for $110. Before I do that I just thought id ask to see if any of you =
know some trick or miracle to get the thing working again. I was told =
to leave it in the freezer overnight, which I tried, but it didn't work. =
So just for good measure I cranked the temperature all the way down and =
left it in for a week. Still "SAFe".

    =20

I'm quite sure that my only option is to trade it in for $110, but I =
just wanted to check to see if anyone has a better solution first. =
Please Please someone have a better solution!! :-)
