I don't know how this works in the 30v engine, but in the 12v V6, there are two
oil check valves at the top of the engine, under the valley pan, that are
supposed to keep enough oil sitting at the top of the engine for  when it is
started ... one of the symptoms of failed check valves is lifter noise at
startup.
Does the 30v engine have the same valves?  If so, could it be that those are
bad?
