mesh or so, before it can get into the oil pump.  Next, finally, comes
the filter.

I'm not intimately familiar with those oil drains in the block, so I
can't guess as to whether it (or bits of it) might have become stuck in
one or not, or even really how to inspect them.

If you want to get hairy, see if you can look at those drains with the
cover off, see if any appear plugged (full of oil), although it is more
likely that a stuck bit of foil will just impede the drain, not block it
entirely.

Then maybe something thin and sturdy (you do not want it breaking off!)
could be pushed down through them (anyone know if they are straight
lines down tot he sump??) to assure they are clear.

Then change the oil.  Anything that got into the sump, you would like to
remove so it doesn't clog the screen while you are running.

PS this is all guesswork!

If after another 100,000 miles nothing goes wrong, you can assume it
will last at least another ten miles.
