I'm considering picking up a mk1 RX7 ('81-'85) for a track car, and
reworking it over time to become a Spec7/SCCA car. I've found a ton of
information on www.spec7.org and http://www.rx7-miata.com, so I'm getting
better versed on all the pros and cons. I was just curious if there are any
q-listers with mk1 RX7 experience who'd be willing to take a question or
two, or might like to talk shop. Sorry for the WOB.
If anyone knows of a good RX7 candidate in the Portland OR area, let me
know.
For those curious 'why an RX7 and not another Audi' the reasons are
numerous: parts availability and pricing, ease of repairs, upgrade
availability, SCCA class restrictions, etc. Having driven an RX7, I can
safely say it's build quality isn't that of an Audi (our old family '82 4000
was a solid little tank of a car) but handling predictability and
box-of-rocks simplicity under the hood make the RX7 a really attractive
option.
Thanks,
Dan
