Wastegate control via exhaust backpressure????

I know nothing about the WR so I figured I'd ask the list on this
one...:

the seller of this "Euro WX to WR conversion kit" shows some pics of the
WG and mentions that the WR has the feed line to the lower WG chamber
plumbed to the collector on the EM (?).  I've NEVER heard of a WG
operating in this manner and it seems like an odd way to control boost..
Then again I know nothing about the WR so I thought I'd ask...

Maybe he messed up and tried to connect the sniffer pipe to the WG..
thinking it would then connect to the EM somehow??
