Dialynx 20v that used a diesel crank to bump up the stroke, then they lowe=
red the bore to get it to 2.5l. I was wondering about simmilar combinations=
for my MC motors. Any BTDT with a diesel crank in an MC to get some torque=
? I know of some diesel 5cyl cars arround that I can snag a crank from, but=
what fits and what doesn't? Are there any OEM rods that go with the combo =
to keep low compression, or do I have to go to Pauter/Carillo?

Cody,

My project for this winter is exactly that: a 2.6L 20vt based on an MC
block and a 7A head.

On the crank, there are two basic VW cranks of interest: one will give
you 92.8mm stroke the other 95.5 mm. The diesel crank you are referring
to is from an industrial motor and has the 92.8mm stroke and also larger
rod journals than the stock MC crank and the 95.5mm eurovan crank. The
problem with the larger rod journals is that you can't use MC connecting
rods like you can with the 95.5mm eurovan crank.

So in summary, my parts list:
MC block, bored to 82.5mm and "clearanced" for the larger stroke
(involves a bit of grinding)
VW Eurovan 95.5mm crank
MC connecting rods
Custom pistons with higher-than-stock pin height

resulting displacement should be =3D (3.14 * (8.25/2)^2 * 9.55 * 5) =3D
2551cc.

I've already got the head and the block, just need to look around for a
good deal on a crank and then I'll draw up the specs for the pistons
that I'll need.

Hope that helps.
