Ideas on how to humanly remove mice

Unfortunately, neither one of those things will work. You have to physically remove the mice, either permanently or by relocation.

If the car is garaged you could give your cats access. Or you could make them indoor/outdoor cats, but then their life expectancy would be greatly shortened.
