Dealership parts at a discount

Also be aware that some dealers like to inflate their prices.  Hoffman's in
CT is a case in point.  On several occasions I have priced out items at
different dealers and found Hoffman's list prices to be 20-30% higher.  A
couple of examples:

Engine bay belly pan for 100/S4/A6/S6 (This was a couple of years ago)
Hoffman's ~$167 list
Carlsen $135 list ($113 w/q-list discount)

AAN crank pulley sprocket (just last week)
Hoffman's ~$75
Clair $51.75 list ($45 w/q-list discount)

So, even if you could get places like Hoffman to give you a discount (they
do give a 10% discount for card carrying members of the Quattro Club, or
whatever it's called now) it would most likely still be more expensive than
the list price at other dealers.  The only thing I'll get at Hoffman's is
the $2-$3 nuts and bolts type stuff that I need right away.
