4kq fueling- tank vent help?

   It's always been a fun experience, putting gas in the 4kq.  Always had to 
run the handle at the slowest speed, and even then it would often cut off 
from the splash long before the tank was full.

  Seems worse, lately-  I can't even lock the handle or it'll cut off right 
away, and my old favorite trick of putting the nozzle in upside down doesn't 
help.

  Is there a remedy for this?  I suspect inadequate venting, but I guess it 
could just be that the filler neck to the tank is too twisty.  Doesn't 
explain the seeming change in behavior though...
