hey folks,

thought i would fyi as there's been a lot of talk about the good old center
support bearing lately. i rebuilt my driveshaft with the 325 beemer part and
it wobbled like a 14 year old maytag [my fault for not marking the 1/2's
before i pulled apart] no good.. i pulled it and scoured the phone book for
someone locally that could balance it + pulled it to have that done.

the shop didnt want to just balance it - they talked me into rebuilding it.
they rebuilt both cv's [said 1 was no good despite passing the highly
critial and rigorous yank-on and look-at tests], put in a new center u-joint
and a CORRECT center support bearing assembly - it was exactly the same as
the oem part, but obviously an aftermarket. the rubber surround on the audi
part is considerably more substantial + thicker than what i got with the bmw
325 part. it cost me 400$ for the whole shebang. i would NOT reccomend the
beemer part as a replacement - correct ones are out there somewhere.

happyturkeyday,
jim
