And backwards from my occasional observation. I think the IM gets
heatsoaked by the head (and the EM, on the 10v). The incoming air cools
it. I base this on noting that while the engine is running (parked,
hood up) the IM is quite cool to the touch. Turn it off and within
minutes it is rather warm.
Somehow I doubt that ambient temp air from the intake could be cooled by
a hunk of aluminum that is also being cooled, at best, by more ambient
temp air running on the outside of it.
