The best course of action is to minimize buildup with prompt (and even
pre-spill) use of one of the various speedi-dry, oil-dri type products
(ie, kitty litter). They also seem to do a good job of lifting existing
stains, although slowly. if you're trying to lift a heavy patch of
congealed greasy buildup, it would make sense to scrap as much as you
can up mechanically first, followed by repeated light applications of a
speedi-dri type product.
The shop next door has no persistent stains on the floor, and all they
really do is hit any spills with speedi-dry right away and sweep up
every day.
Be careful using solvents to assist in the cleaning process for two
serious reasons - the fumes are often toxic and flammable.
