I second that method.  Yeah it may knock a few % off the life of your
wheel bearing if you have to really wack it, but in combination with
penetrant and heat like Javad sayes (if you have it) it should not take
much.  For some reason the rotors one of my rotors was frozen on after
only 2.5 years, but the first solid hit with a big hammer and it when
flying.
