High idle, sticking throttle, throttle body questions

For any high idle problem, always check the throttle first since it's the easiest to check. Same thing happened to me and after spraying it down and playing w/ it for a few minutes, I've never had a problem after. About question #1, I'd just buy a new one or replace w/ a good used one. You might be able to open it and clean out the contacts, but the trouble is keeping it sealed afterward w/ that grease and cleaner in there. If you seal it w/ glue and the plug falls out, the problem will become much worse as moisture will have a clear path to the brass inside. For #3, I also had this problem. It wasn't done by the factory, but a careless mechanic. I guess it's easy to break it, but anyway, I just spun on another nut and locktite'd them together. I used the real strong loctite (I forget which color it was) and it was easy to turn out. If not, a pair of small locking pliers should do it. You'll need to replace the screw anyway. Just make sure you can get your hands on another one before you do this. I think the thread was a hard to find metric size. I guess you could just re-tap the hole w/ regular thread if you can't source it. Good luck.

Patient is a 1990 100q non turbo, manual transmission
Now the questions:
1. Idle switch - I read 8.0 ohms instead of 0.0 with contacts closed. The
reading is consistent. I read in the archives about cleaning out the
contacts by drilling a small hole in the switch body and spraying in contact
cleaner. How effective is this procedure?
2. What is the purpose of the dashpot? I know it slows down the closing of
the primary throttle plate by about 1.5 seconds. Why is it necessary?
3. The adjusting screw in the primary/secondary linkage has no head. It
looks like the head was sheared off after the factory assembly and
adjustment.
The secondary is activated by the primary shaft after it goes thru about 25%
rotation. A slot in the linkage activates the secondary.
