Doesn't your EFI system run closed loop unless some sort of WOT switch
is tripped? IE, at typical running throttle levels (like cruising down
a highway, idling, etc.) the mixture is controlled in response to the
input from the OXS?

It would seem all the "map tweaking" that goes on comes into play when
the WOT switch or something similar is closed, ie the engine is under
extremes of load and thus needs other than stoichiometric fuel/air
ratios to function properly, not blow up, etc.

Sounds like you alternator replacement did good things for your voltage
function.

There is still *something* drastically wrong with the engine management
system(s) though., judging by the way it fails to work under perfectly
ordinary driving circumstances.
