Hard Start - 87 4kq

I've got an 87 Audi 4000CS Quattro. The problem I'm having is when the car sits for any length of time (> 2 hours or so). I'll first start off by saying that I've got a problem with my ignition switch, actually I think it is just the connection between the switch and the wire harnes that attaches to it. I've got to hold the harness to get the starter engaged, but it will stay in the run position with out any problems.

When I first start the car it wants to quickly die. It doesn't really respond to the gas pedal that much either. Usually I've got to lightly feed it gas to try and get the revs up for a bit then it'll run fine. It usually takes about 5 'starts' and a couple minutes before it will idle and drive ok. I'm really at a loss as to where to start diagnosing this problem.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
