Hello all,
Here's an unusal request that is wildly unrelated to Audi discussions, although,...it does involve money, pain, and frustration...so perhaps it is actually more closely related to the Audi world than I thought!:
I'm a senior Information Technology (IT) practioner who's just been through a second year of having an already lean [proposed] IT capital budget reduced by 75% annually,...while our business is doing exceptionally well and is experiencing significant growth. Rather than get frustrated by these facts, I'd like to use the energy in a more positive way. I'd like to compile a collection of bona-fide horror stories from individuals in both IT and Financial management roles who've experienced almost phenomenal contradictions relative to what was expected of IT departments vs. meager/enormous capital investments (I realize that there are Finance folks on the list shaking their heads right now thinking that the ROI on the total cost of ownership [IT] is just not there in the first place...hence the request).
I'd like to write an light-hearted, objective, and educational paper relating both the Finance and IT perspectives on the issue. I'd like to use the horror stories as the basis of each point, consequently, any and all horror stories spanning harware, telephony, connectivity, and security would be much appreciated.
Also, can anyone help me locate forums for these types of discussions outside of chat rooms on the various IT trade journal web-sites,...any links to any such forums would also be very useful.
As usual, I bow to the oracle (no pun intended) of the Quattro List for help. TIA
Regards,
George B.
