90Q suspension question

Lowered the car back to the ground, pulled the plastic caps off that cover
the top of the struts, and found that the metal retaining washer on top of
the strut is about 1/2" clear of the body when weight is on the tires.  It's
just sitting there in the air making no contact with the body.


That's normal.  That retaining cap is for if your suspension sees extreme
travel... And the plastic cap keeps the metal away from the body of the car.
Could be worn or tired strut mounts or ball joints or tie rod ends or...
