Can't get brakes working after repair - 92 S4

For some strange reason, on both my 200TQA and V8Q neither pressure
bleeding nor suction bleeding seems to get all the air out of the rear,
especially the drivers side caliper. Good old fashioned 2 man pump and
bleed is the only way I could get the air out.
Just went through this while changing the brake fluid and rear brake
hoses on the wagon, pressure/vacuum bled the front calipers and clutch
cylinders with no problems, but just couldn't get the air our of the
rears without doing it manually.
If you still can't get a pedal, even after pumping, you probably have a
bad master cylinder.
